Backstage Boys Series
“I wouldn’t have picked anything else. For those of us in it, it’s a noble calling. Show business doesn’t happen without us. We’re the guts, the dirty underbelly, the grease on the transmission under all the chrome and shiny headlights.”
Stagehandery in a big city is a bit like Regency London society. Everyone is related to everyone else. One’s status depends on family, on the date of one’s peerage – er, ascent to journeyman standing. Everyone is constantly meeting everyone else in one of the big houses – theatre houses, that is. The glamor, the lights, the music, the glitter…the gossip. Oh, the gossip.
And among stagehands, as in Regency society, there are patriarchs and princes, second sons and bad boys – and all the women they love.
